At By Julie Home Fragrance, I want you to love your products as much as I love making them. Here you’ll find answers to some of the questions I’m asked most often. If there’s anything else you’d like to know, please get in touch — I’m always happy to help.

What are your candles made from?

My candles are hand-poured by me in small batches in my Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne workshop, using a premium plant-based wax blend. My candles are vegan-friendly and cruelty-free, with carefully selected fragrance oils and quality wicks chosen to give a beautiful, long-lasting fragrance.

How long should I burn my candle for?

For the best performance and a safe, even burn, I recommend burning your candle for a maximum of 4 hours at a time. Always trim the wick before each burn and never leave a burning candle unattended.

Are your products vegan-friendly and cruelty-free?

Yes. My home fragrance collection is vegan-friendly and cruelty-free, with ingredients and materials carefully selected for their quality and performance.

Where are By Julie products made?

My candles and wax melts are hand-poured by me in small batches in my workshop in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne. My diffusers and room sprays are also individually blended and finished with the same attention to detail.

How do I get the best scent from my candle?

On the first burn, allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface where possible. Always trim the wick before relighting and burn for no longer than 4 hours at a time.

How long will my reed diffuser last?

This can vary depending on room temperature, airflow and how often you turn the reeds. For a stronger fragrance, turn the reeds occasionally; for a more subtle scent, turn them less often.

Can I choose the same fragrance across different products?

Many of my fragrances are available across candles, wax melts, reed diffusers and room sprays, making it easy to layer your favourite By Julie scent throughout your home.

Do you offer local collection?

Yes. Local collection is available. Simply select the collection option when ordering and let me know your preferred collection point in the order notes.

Can I smell the fragrances before buying?

Absolutely. You can visit me at Killingworth Makers Market every Saturday, where you can discover the fragrances in person and I can help you find one you’ll love.

What if I’m not sure which fragrance to choose?
